Welcome to Our Web site.
We invite you to find out what we do, who the members of our organization are and how you can help support, or make use of, our services to the frail elderly, disabled and chronically ill residents of Southeast Lake County communities.
On this site, you will find information on our services and fund-raising activities: our new cookbook, “Best in the Neighborhood,” for example. (I guarantee you will find a recipe that you would love to have.)
You can also find out how you, or your congregation, can join us in this inspiring work in Southeast Lake County.
SELCFIA is a unique organization that provides professionally trained and supervised volunteers to people at home who need some help in their activities of daily living. We also do an assessment that covers prevention issues in the home and the need for other services from professional agencies, senior centers, hospitals, hospices and Lake County clinics. And we are the only volunteer group that provides door through door transportation services for medical appointments.
Our volunteer corps is drawn from the interfaith congregations in our coalition and from the communities we serve. There is no charge for services and we serve anyone in the community regardless of their religious affiliation.
Our only limitations on service are that a volunteer must be available in the area where the potential care recipient lives and that we do not provide daily caregivers.
Our Advisory Board is made up of area professionals who provide services to seniors and financially challenged residents. We work closely with this Board to provide as complete a continuum of services, professional as well as volunteer, that the care recipient needs. This can include referrals to social workers, Meals on Wheels, Catholic Charities senior services, and transportation services in Moraine Valley and West Deerfield Townships.
Cordially,

Audrey K. Gordon, PhD
